Root Causes

Single Ad Group for All Keywords

Lumping all your keywords into one ad group is the most common mistake. It makes it impossible to write relevant ad copy, which destroys your Quality Score.

Not Separating by Match Type

Mixing broad, phrase, and exact match keywords in the same ad group gives you very little control over where your budget goes.

Not Structuring Based on Your Website

Your campaigns should mirror the structure of your website. If you have separate pages for 'Service A' and 'Service B', you should have separate campaigns or ad groups for them.

Use SKAGs (Single Keyword Ad Groups) for Your Top Keywords

For your most important, high-volume keywords, consider creating an ad group that contains only that single keyword. This gives you maximum control over ad copy and bidding.
